Overview

South Hackensack Municipal Court is in session on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month beginning at 1:00pm. The court is responsible for the prosecution and trial of cases such as the following:

  • Motor Vehicle and Traffic violations
  • Disorderly/Petty Disorderly Person offenses
  • Township Ordinance and Code violations
  • Fish and Game violations

More serious criminal offenses, known as indictable offenses, will be sent to the Bergen County Prosecutors Office at 10 Main Street Hackensack NJ.  The Municipal Court does not hear these matters.

Payments can be mailed, paid in person, or using the website WWW.NJMCDIRECT.COM.  This court accepts cash, checks, money orders, and credit card payments.

Payments for tickets not checked off Court Appearance required are due on the date listed as court date.  If you wish to plead not guilty,  you must call the court prior to the date listed.

Failing to pay a ticket on time or failing to appear in court can result in your License or Registration becoming suspended. All questions concerning points should be directed to the Motor Vehicle Commission.

Municipal Court sessions will now be conducted virtually/remotely to minimize exposure to COVID-19.
