Detective Bureau

Detective Bureau Commander Det. Sgt. James Donatello

The mission of the South Hackensack Police Detective Bureau is to thoroughly investigate crimes and offenses occurring within the Township and to identify, arrest, and present offenders to the judicial system. Detectives work cooperatively with officers in the patrol division and conduct follow up investigations from information that is received from them.

Members of the Detective Bureau identify and execute tactical undercover operations of known prostitutes, drug dealers, and gang members who commit crimes within the Township. Detectives receive advanced training from several agencies such as The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, New Jersey State Police, FBI, DEA, New Jersey Attorney General's Office and the NYPD.

The Detective Bureau works in conjunction with many local, county, state, and federal agencies to investigate and solve crimes. Another task the Detective Bureau is responsible for is to conduct background checks of township volunteers, liquor license applicants, entertainment license applications, firearm applicants, and the registration of Megan's Law offenders.
