Snow and Ice Removal

With the winter season quickly approaching I would like to remind you of several Township Ordinances relating to the removal of snow and ice.

Whenever snow has fallen and the accumulation is such that the street becomes covered, all vehicles must be removed from the roadway. All vehicles are to remain off the roadway until the snow has ceased and the roadway has been sufficiently plowed to allow for the normal flow of traffic.

All residents/tenants are responsible for removing snow and ice from the sidewalks located between your property line and the curb. You are to ensure safe passage over the same within 18 hours of daylight after the snow has stopped falling.

All snow and ice that is removed from your driveway and sidewalks must be deposited and maintained within the boundaries of your property and is not to be deposited in the roadway.

In the event that there is insufficient parking at your residence for all of your vehicles you are permitted to park in the parking area in front of Veterans Park and in the parking lot of Memorial School up against the Route 80 sound wall.

These laws have been instituted to provide for the safe passage of pedestrians and vehicles throughout the Township of South Hackensack during winter storms. Your anticipated compliance is greatly appreciated.
