Important Notice to All Residents

Dear Resident:

Many of you are probably aware ofthe financial challenges now facing all levels of government. These challenges have led to the layoff of employees, reduction ofservice in some instances and a tightening ofthe “municipal belt” by your Township Committee. Despite these efforts our biggest challenges are still ahead of us. We need your help!

The New Jersey Legislature has introduced a bill known as the” Meadowlands Regionalization, Efficiency and Property Tax Relief Act of 2010″. The central purpose of this bill is to stabilize taxes in several towns (including ours) and fix a broken system whereby certain towns (including ours) pay a large sum ofmoney each year as members of The Hackensack Meadowland District. The bill, by merging the Borough of Teterboro with Little Ferry, South Hackensack, Moonachie and Hasbrouck Heights, will bring much needed tax relief to our town and the region and perhaps most importantly ensure that our small community is preserved for our children and grandchildren.

On Wednesday, August 18, 2010 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. our local legislators, Sen. Bob Gordon and Assemblywoman Connie Wagner, will be holding an open forum at the Bergen County Academies, 200 Hackensack Avenue, Hackensack, New Jersey to receive public feedback, answer questions and provide further information. Your attendance and support ofthis crucial bill may have significant impact on your taxes and the future existence of our town. We therefore encourage all residents to attend this important meeting, gather information and hopefully voice your support for this bill.

Please contact town hall or any of the committee members with any questions. Hoping to see you on August 18, 2010, we remain in your service.
