New Meadowlands Blog Now Online

The New Jersey Meadowlands Commission is pleased to announce the Meadowlands Blog, designed to help raise the public awareness of the many natural wonders and activities that abound in this unique region.

The blog – meadowblog.net – highlights the 30A-square-mile Meadowlands District’s amazing natural resources. It celebrates local nature – from birds and butterflies to flowers and other flora. It links to major local nature groups.  And it publicizes upcoming NJMC events, including those at the new Center for Scientific and Environmental Education and the William D. McDowell Observatory in DeKorte Park in Lyndhurst.

The blog also posts unusual bird sightings and other noteworthy occurrences. We hope to soon post other nature-related events. The public is invited to notify blog-meister Jim Wright, an NJMC staffer, of sightingsand send in digital photos (jim.wright@njmeadowlands.gov).

Posts so far have included information on upcoming guided canoe tours as well as explorations
of the Kearny Marsh, the Mill Creek Marsh in Secaucus and Losen Slote Creek Park in Little Ferry.

So please: check us out and enjoy the beauty of this area.
