SHPD Arrests Five in Prostitution Operation
The South Hackensack Police Detective Bureau has arrested five (5) individuals for prostitution within the Township of South Hackensack. The arrests were conducted over a two month investigation which stemmed from ads that were placed via the internet for sex.
The suspects were advertising that they were available for sex on Route 46 South Hackensack. Officers from the South Hackensack Police posing as customers contacted the ads and posed as customers. The suspects would then set an appointment with the undercover Detectives and tell them which motel and room number they were operating from.
During the course of the investigation the suspects used three different motels on the Route 46 corridor in South Hackensack. The Police Department arrested the following individuals all from the City of Newark, NJ. Rita Vilareal, Greciy Arend, Janelle Alves, Marcely Silva, and Ana DaSilva.
During the investigation the Police Department seized $1,728.00 in U.S. Currency and a Dell Laptop Computer which one of the suspects was using to facilitate her operation. All the individuals were charged with one count of prostitution and released pending a court hearing. All the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
