Man Sentenced in Web Sex Sting

A 29-year-old radiologist was sentenced to seven years in federal prison for attempting to have sex with a 14-year-old girl.

Sohail Chaudhry of Philadelphia was orginally arrested in South Hackensack on January 4, 2006 when he arrived at McDonald’s expecting to meet the teenage girl for sex. The arrest was the result of a six-month probe by detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and SHPD. During that time Chaudhry exchanged more than 50 instant messages with the detectives posing as the 14-year-girl. He testified in court that he was merely role-playing; however, US Attorneys countered that he drove more than 100 miles to meet her knowing that she was only 14.

An officer from SHPD is assigned to the Bergen County Computer Crimes Task Force which has conducted a number of undercover operations that have resulted in the apprehension of a number of suspects who have attempted to solicit minors over the internet.
