Officers Commended for Exeptional Service

On April 18, 2007 South Hackensack Police received a report of gun fire at the Stagecoach Motel. Sgt. Nick Ulliana, Sgt. John Rizer, and Ptl. Robert Chinchar immediately responded to the area and encountered several frightened motel guests fleeing the area. The witnesses were able to give the officers a general area of the gunfire. Through the course of their investigation the officers located two spent .45 caliber rounds outside of room 16. The officers entered the room and located the suspect. A .45 caliber handgun loaded with hollow point bullets was located on the nightstand next to the bed. The suspect was taken into custody and charged with Possession of Handgun and Possession of Hollow Point bullets.

On April 19, 2007 Ptl. Domenick Mea observed a fight taking place between five individuals in the rear of Johnny A’s Players Club. Ptl. Mea immediately radioed Headquarters for assistance and detained all five subjects. Captain Joseph Terraccino and Ptl. David Agar arrived at the scene to assist. After the initial investigation it was determined that one of the individuals had pulled a loaded 9mm handgun and tried to rob one of the men. It was determined that when the suspect saw officer Mea he discarded the handgun underneath a parked car. The officers searched the area and located a loaded 9mm handgun. Three individuals were arrested and charged with Armed Robbery and Possession of a Weapon. It was later learned that the suspect who possessed the handgun was an active member of the Latin Kings street gang.

Due to these officers actions no one was hurt and these dangerous individuals were remanded to the Bergen County Jail.  Captain Terraccino, Sgt. Rizer, Sgt. Ulliana, Ptl. Agar, Ptl. Mea, and Ptl. Chinchar all received medals for exceptional service.
