Wanted Bank Robber Apprehended

On January 10 the Bank of New York on Huyler Street was robbed by a man who handed over a note to a teller alleging that he had a gun and
threatened to shoot.  The teller handed over an unkown amount of money and the suspect fled.

From surveillance tapes and fingerprints on the note, South Hackensack Police were able to identify the suspect as Keyon Lassiter. Detective learned that Lassiter had stayed at a South Hackensack motel prior to the robbery; but, it was difficult to locate him because he had no known address.

Through a cooperative effort between South Hackensack Police, Bergen County Police, Paramus Police Dept., the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, and U.S. Marshalls Lassiter was apprehended at the home of a friend in Newark on Feb. 5.  He was charged with one count of robbery, one count of possession of a firearm and one count of making terroristic threats.

Chief Frew extended thanks to all the agencies involved in the investigation.
