The South Hackensack Volunteer Ambulance Corps. is always looking for dedicated members. The Sate of New Jersey provides funds for training; there is no out-of-pocket expense to the members.
The training consists of a 120 hour course to become a Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). The course is held at the EMS Training Center in Paramus. Course schedules vary and are offered either 2 nights per week or full days on Saturdays and Sundays.
If EMT Training is Not For You...
If becoming a Certified EMT is not for you please consider volunteering as a Driver. Drivers will drive the ambulances and assist EMTs in other ways. Drivers must attend a Defensive Driving Class and be certified in CPR.
The Defensive Driving class may also qualify you for a discount on your personal car insurance depending on your policy and insurance carrier.
